Railways introduce new Air-conditioned weekly Superfast train between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Kamakhya


Indian Railway has introduced a new Air-conditioned weekly Superfast train between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Mumbai and Kamakhya, Assam. The first fully air-conditioned 12520/19 Kamakhya-Lokmanya Tilok (T) Mumbai AC Express was flagged off by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at the Kamakhya railway station on Thursday (April 18, 2013) afternoon. The regular services of the new train commenced from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus on April. 

The train will leave Kamakhya at 20.50 hrs on every Thursday and reach Lokmanya Tilok (T), Mumbai at 17.50 hrs on Saturday. In return direction, it will leave Lokmanya Tilok (T), Mumbai at 07.50 hrs of every Sunday and reach Kamakhya at 04.15 hrs of every Tuesday. It will cover the distance of 2,587 km in 45 hours.

The train's composition includes, One AC first class, Three AC 2-tier, 11 AC 3-tier and 2 generators cum guard's brake vans. After Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Garibrath Express, this happens to be the only other fully air-conditioned train consisting of one first AC (24 berths), three 2-tirer AC (156 berths) and 11 3-tier AC (792 berths) coaches, totaling 972 berths.

The train will have stoppages at New Bongaigaon, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Katihar, Naugachia, Khagaria, Begusarai, Patna, Mughalsarai, Mrizapur, Satna, Katni, Jabalpur, Itarsi, Khandwa, Bhusawal, Nasik Road, Itagatpur, Kalyan and Thane.
