Speeding up of trains is a constant endeavor and continuous process on Indian Railways and is dependent on constant optimization of the investments made by Railways in modernization of technology, high powered locos, modern coaches and better track. Moreover, Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) Air Conditioned coaches running in service are already fit for 160 Kilometer per hour speed potential.  Further, the introduction of semi high speed trains at 160/200 kmph on the identified corridors has been announced in the Rail Budget 2014-15.  The corridors identified for introduction of semi high speed train are Delhi-Agra, Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Kanpur, Nagpur-Bilaspur, Mysore-Bengaluru-Chennai, Mumbai-Goa, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Chennai-Hyderabad and Nagpur-Secunderabad.  All technical inputs required for running of commercial service at 160 kmph on New Delhi-Agra corridor have been given and the corridor is ready for introduction of such service.  The feasibility study of speed raising on Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore corridor is being taken up under co-operation agreement with China.
