Railway Minister dedicates “Rail Geet” To The Nation

Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu today dedicated a “Rail Geet” (Railway Song) to the nation.  The initial wordings of the song are – “Bharat ki Rail Mahan hai – Pragati ki Pehchan hai – Bharat ki ye Shan hai – Desh ki ye Jaan hai – Indian Railways, We love Indian Railways”
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said that symbols in our country play a very important role in motivating and inspiring people and this “Rail Geet” will be such a symbol for all Railwaymen and rail users. It will give them the spirit of marching ahead and working unitedly for the growth of Indian Railways. He pointed out that even during freedom struggle many songs and slogans worked as vehicles of inspiration for millions of people.  Referring to the hardwork being done by the Railwaymen in running the huge railway network successfully, Shri Suresh Prabhu said that this song will reflect the commitment and dedication of lakhs of railway employees. Shri Suresh Prabhu thanked all the persons connected with this project of composing this “Rail Geet”.

In a message, Chairman, Railway Board Shri A. K. Mital said that the “Rail Geet” will work as a motivating force and will bring a sense of belonging among the vast railway fraternity.
Addl. Member/Staff, Shri Anand Mathur presented a brief background of the “Rail Geet”.
This is for the first time that a “Rail Geet” of this kind has been composed for Indian Railways. This “Rail Geet” is meant for enthusing more than 13 lakh Railwaymen and establishing a connect with general populace at large. This song will motivate people and unify them for a common objective of making Indian Railways as the best railway system in the world. It will instil a sense of pride among the Railwaymen and will also be of immense interest to all rail users and general public.  This song will reflect the ethos of railway system which is hailed as the lifeline of the nation and an engine of growth.  The Minister of Railways has been the guiding force behind this concept of “Rail Geet”.

This Geet has been composed by noted Music Director Shravan & has been sung by acclaimed singers Shri Udit Narayan and Ms. Kavita Krishnamurti. It has been written by a former railway officer Shri Satya Prakash who worked in various capacities in Indian Railways and retired as Addl. Member (Tourism & Catering), Railway Board.
The song has two versions – a longer version of 5 minutes duration and a shorter version of 3 minutes duration.
