Passenger amenities such as Cushioned seats, luggage space/ racks, lights, fans, toilets and washbasins etc. are presently provided in General second class coaches for the passengers. Besides, mobile/laptop charging socket, dustbins and Braille signages are now being provided in all newly manufactured coaches and retrofitment on existing coaches is also being done in progressive manner. Further, in the Railway Budget 2016-17, introduction of Deen Dayalu coach and Antyodaya train services were announced catering specially to General Second Class passengers. Additional amenities viz. Water filters, cushioned luggage racks, toilet occupation indication display board, hand holds in doorway area, enhanced mobile charging facility etc. have been included in the design of Deen Dayalu coach as well as that of Antyodaya service coaches.
For implementing ‘Mission Raftaar’ as announced in the Rail Budget 2016-17, a cross-functional directorate has been created in Railway Board. Gatiman Express at maximum speed of 160 kmph has been introduced between Delhi-Agra. Studies are being undertaken on Delhi-Chandigarh and Chennai-Bangalore- Mysore sections for speed upgradation of existing routes with foreign Railway collaboration. Humsafar, Tejas and Antyodaya train services and Deen Dayalu coaches, which were announced in the Rail Budget 2016-17, have been envisaged with additional facilities for the passengers.
Indian Railways has made a large number of efforts to provide economical, comfortable and safe journey to all classes of passengers through various measures including Deen Dayalu General class coaches to be attached to various long distance trains.
